Case study of physiotherapy treatment of a patient after Total Knee Replacement

iv Abstract Author: Adam Viktora Supervisor: PhDr. Lenka Žáková, Ph.D. Title of the thesis: Case study of physiotherapy treatment of a patient after Total Knee Replacement Objectives: The goal of this thesis is to gather and understand the theoretical knowledge of the knee joint, osteoarthritis, total knee replacement surgery and its rehabilitation, and then evaluate the therapeutic sessions that were applied. Clinical findings: This study evaluated the condition of a 73-year-old patient after total knee replacement of the right knee. The examination showed a reduced range of motion, reduced mobility of joints, muscle imbalances and differences in conditions of soft tissues. Methods: All methods used for this study were based on the knowledge learned and the literature provided by the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports, Charles University. Results: Following the eight therapeutic sessions, the patient had progressed well overall. Progress was seen in terms of pain, range of motion, muscle imbalances and condition of soft tissues. Conclusion: The therapies applied were effective and valuable in this specific diagnosis of the patient.
